COVID-19 has hit the industries of India hard. One critically struck industry among them is the tourism industry. The tourism and travel sector is trying to recover from the pandemic by slowly opening up part by part as the whole industry stood still throughout the entire lockdown period. The experts of the department of tourism are wrecking their heads on how to reopen this sector and make it happen again. For this reason, some rules and guidelines have been imposed so people can start and enjoy traveling once again, taking all the safety precautions. The country is reopening again as the lockdown is being lifted gradually. In such a case if tourists feel like they have been stuck in a home for all these months, and need to travel and refresh their minds- they can certainly do so by following some norms which will promise their safety as well as the safety of the people around them. Let’s take a look at the guidelines now.

Before planning to travel :

  • Tourists should submit a self-declaration form 72 hours before traveling
  • Mandatory 14 days of quarantine after reaching the destination. (States have changed this number according to their ease now)
  • Travelers might give in a negative RT-PCR test report to avoid institutional quarantine.

Before getting on a flight / train :

  • Download the Arogya Setu App
  • Asymptomatic travelers are allowed
  • Thermal scanning and self-sanitizing is a must

While traveling :

  • Wearing masks, maintaining safe social distance, sanitization along with thermal scanning is still required.
  • In case a tourist is feeling sick and is tested positive for COVID-19, he/she or the hotel authorities have to inform the district administration.
  • After Unlock4 which started in September, people are not required to get e-passes when they want to travel within the country.

You need to remember that states are allowed to have their own set of protocols so be sure to check out the website of the state that you are planning to visit.
Though activities are restricted in containment zones people can easily look at that list and avoid them.

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, put on a mask, maintain social distance, and explore our incredible India!
